Microsurgery
Microsurgery is a surgical technique which enables us to work on the very small anatomic structures such as the nerves, arteries and veins in the fingers.
What is microsurgery?
Microsurgery is a surgical technique that allows operations on very small anatomical structures such as nerves, arteries, and veins in the fingers. Microsurgery can also be applied to tendons in order to preserve them as much as possible during handling or suturing, thereby optimizing functional outcomes.
The use of specific surgical instruments, optical magnification or a microscope, as well as dedicated sutures with a diameter smaller than a human hair, is required.
When is microsurgery used?
This technique is mainly used in emergency and reconstructive surgery of the hand, involving nerves, blood vessels, or tendons. It requires specialized training in microsurgical techniques.
